Phobias
Almost everyone has an irrational fear or two—of mice, for example, or your annual dental check up. For most people, these fears are minor. But, when fears become so severe that they cause tremendous anxiety and interfere with your normal life, they’re called phobias. The good news is that phobias can be managed and cured.
A phobia is an extreme or irrational fear for aversion to something that makes you feel uncomfortable or anxious. (Overwhelming and debilitating fear of an object, place, situation, feeling or animal) Phobias are more pronounced than fears. They develop when a person has an exaggerated or unrealistic sense of danger about a situation or object. If a phobia becomes very severe, a person may organise their life around avoiding the thing that’s causing them anxiety. As well as restricting their day-to-day life, it can also cause them considerable anguish.
