Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
PTSD may affect people who experienced one or more traumatising situations. These traumas may develop as a result of extreme stress and life-threatening experiences. The symptoms of PTSD includes recurring flashbacks to the incident, avoidance of memories of the event which continues after a month of the traumatising experience.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
OCD is an anxiety disorder which is characterized by intrusive thoughts. This again could lead to feelings of uneasiness, fear or worry. The affected will establish repetitive behavioural patterns (compulsive) which are associated with reducing the feeling of uneasiness. The behavioural patterns may include nervous rituals, preoccupation with thoughts of violence, excessive washing and repetitive needs of reassurance.

Health anxieties of Hypochondriasis refers to constant worries of having a serious illness. These worries will occur without the presence of an actual medical condition.
Generalised Anxiety Disorder
Generalised Anxiety Disorder is characterized by excessive and often irrational worries about events or activities. These worries will normally interfere with the daily functions of the affected person.
Social Anxiety Disorder
Social anxiety disorder is a disorder which is characterised by an intense feeling of fear in social settings, giving the affected difficulties with functioning in the daily life.

Stress is a psychological process which is caused by events that may harm, challenge or threaten the individual. The stress may happen consciously or subconsciously.
Anxiety
Anxiety is an unpleasant feeling of inner conflict, often followed by nervous behaviour. The feeling of inner conflict is not a response to a real threat, but rather to what is perceived as a future threat.

Depression refers to the state of low mood, accompanied by an aversion to activity. Thoughts are often negative and repetitive, the patient reports of fewer experiences of joy, and a feeling of hopelessness which often leads to a decrease of general interest in everyday life.

Lack of assertiveness is characterised by a passive nature, a need to please the surroundings which may lead to a sense of worthlessness. The individual will see other people’s feelings as superior to their own.
Suicidal Feelings/Self-harm
Suicidal feelings concerns thoughts which are overly focused on suicide. The intensity of the thoughts may vary from fleeting thoughts, detailed planning and extensive focus on it.

Panic is an overwhelming feeling of fear, dominating rational and logical thoughts. The feeling will often lead to an anxiety attack.
Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia
A panic disorder will be diagnosed in people experiencing panic attacks seemingly out of the blue, while no real threat exists. These people will often be preoccupied with the fear of the recurrence of such a feeling. Some will start avoiding the places where they have experienced panic attacks – thereby developing Agoraphobia, the fear of open and public places.
